Lv Yijian

Lv Yijian with the courtesy name of Tanfu (978-1043), came from Shouzhou of Northern Song Dynasty (Shou County, Anhui). He was famous politician and poet. He worked as salt officer of Xixi after Yan Shu and he came to the palace to be minister for three times. Especially at the first year of Emperor of Renzong of Song Dynasty, he took in charge of politics during the Empress Dowager Liu's Dynasty. During the decades, the whole situation was stable, and he made great contribution, so that he had been famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty. He was called as Lv Wen Jing Gong.  

When Lu Yijian was in Xixi, there were so many people who loved planting. It was so great that Lu Yijian also liked the famous flowers and strange grass so much. Besides, he had plantation experience of crown of growing flowers, peony.

In the post of Xixi, he had planted dozens of peonies and there were different species. He built some bars to protect the peony, so people could not bare to destroy it. Every year when the flowers blossom in full bloom, the peony blossoms hundreds of flowers, clusters of flowers, rivalry, charming and lovely, fragrant. People deemed it as Flower Bridge Chestnut. The liberates from four counties and eight towns came for appreciation. It was so unforgettable and excellent. It should be called as big event.

One day, Lv Yijian watched flowers under the moon and he could not help making a poem, Poem for Peony:
    异香浓艳压群葩，  何事栽培近海涯。
    开向东风应有十艮， 凭谁移入五侯家。

After Lv Yijian leaving the post, people built a pavilion in the place where he planted peony and it was called as Peony Pavilion, also called as Xi Xian Pavilion, to show memory for Lv Gong. Then Lv Yijian was promoted to be minister, the residents in Xixi built Jing Gong Hall in the southeast of the town.
