Han and Tang Dynasty: Dong Yong

Dong Yong was born in Dong house in Danyang Lane (also called as Qiansheng), Xixi Town in Western Han Dynasty. He lost his mother when he was young and he lived with his father, Dong Gong. Later, he did farm to cultivate his father. He also worked for others for being poor. When there was a busy season in farming, he pulled the ill father with a car to the shadow of trees around the farmland. He did farm and took care of his father at the same time. He was praised by neighbors as a good boy.  

Later, Dong Gong was dead for disease. Dong Yong could not afford the burying for the poor family, so he sold himself to the wealthy man in Xixi town, Cao Zhangzhe, so that he could bury his father.

Dong Yong has been listed as one of Twenty-four Filial Piety of Han Dynasty, and it is widely spread.
